Set & Atmosphere – 6.5
This room shows its age. Some pieces feel worn, bare, or a little scuffed, and a few tech elements were finicky to trigger just right. The dim lighting helps hide some of that, but even so, one section was dusty enough to set off my allergies! That said, Questomatica created a moody/dream-like vibe that still works — with a few surprisingly spooky moments.
Story & Immersion – 7
The concept is that you’re diving into a girl’s dream to break her free, but thematically it often felt more creepy than whimsical. (There’s something about Dutch escape rooms and eerie little girl tropes!) The story isn’t tightly woven into the puzzles, but the ambient design keeps you immersed enough. There were also a couple delightful set pieces that really showed attention to detail and care!
Puzzles & Mechanics – 7
This room leans on harder-than-average puzzles, which we really appreciated. The challenge level makes it less kid-friendly despite the childlike theme. A couple of puzzles had logic or detail connections that felt a little loose, but in general, they rewarded persistence and reasoning.
Flow – 6
Progression followed a single arc — mostly linear with just a few branching moments. Some transitions between puzzles felt tenuous, as if steps were included more for pacing than narrative sense. The technical finickiness of certain props also slowed things down, but it never fully derailed the experience.
Verdict – 6.6
Wake Up! may not be a showstopper nowadays, but I can see how it once stood out in its prime. It’s a challenging room with solid puzzles, moody ambiance, and a touch of unintentional spookiness. The aging tech and inconsistent theming hold it back, but a puzzle duo will still have a good time.
