Set & Atmosphere – 9.5

Trip Trap has nailed the fairy tale/medieval aesthetic here from the warm, flickering lighting to the ambient sound design that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into another time. Every detail feels handcrafted! Water installations and architectural touches make it feel alive.

Story & Immersion – 8.5

The room’s fairy tale narrative flows naturally through the puzzles, guiding you without feeling heavy-handed. The introduction sets the tone, though it runs a bit long. Once you begin, the sense of purpose is clear and consistent, with no moments of confusion. Personally, I would have loved more lore to match the length of the opening exposition!

Puzzles & Mechanics – 9

Aunt Hilda’s Room is loaded with parallel puzzles, making it perfect for larger groups and it's probably why a team of two isn’t allowed. There’s a great mix of discovery, logic, timing, and skill-based challenges, with clever coordination moments that span across the room. Even the search elements feel intentional, with logical placement. High-tech elements are well hidden and reskinned, making them feel magical rather than mechanical.

Flow – 9

The room unfolds in a way that feels both expansive and cohesive. Unlocking each new area gives a fresh burst of excitement, and the pacing keeps multiple players engaged at once. The only trade-off is that the atmospheric low lighting, while gorgeous, can make it easy to miss details or solve puzzles.

Verdict – 9

Aunt Hilda’s Room is a richly immersive, skillfully crafted experience that blends beautiful set design, magical tech, and engaging puzzles into a fairy tale adventure. The combination of parallelism, variety, and coordinated tasks makes it shine with a larger team — though for maximum enjoyment, keep your party size manageable so everyone stays actively involved.
